Fire Rising

Fire Rising by Donna Grant.

This story follows Tristan and Samantha. Tristan is unique as a dragon king.

***Spoiler Alert!***

As always, my review contains spoilers.

So Tristan- if you read the three “prequel” dragon king stories you will know that Tristan literally just dropped out of the sky. Tristan used to be Duncan- a warrior. He doesn’t have any memories of being Duncan at this point though so he isn’t quite ready to accept that he has a twin and a past.

Samantha owns a bar and gets mixed up with Ulrik (or honestly- is it Mikkel?) having read through to the current dragon king it’s quite possible that some of the scheming was Mikkel and some was Ulrik. I always felt like things were weird in these first couple of books and just chalked it up to Ulrik’a mind games but looking back I thinks it’s hinting at the eventual revelation that Mikkel was also pulling strings behind the scenes.

Samantha makes her way to Dreagan and there is the instant chemistry between her and Tristan. Add in that when he is with her, touches her, etc. he will get flashes of his past as Duncan.

They work through their issues and end up together at the end. Rhi is taken by Balladyn. The first time I read this book I was shattered. Going through this book a second time had all the same emotions- even knowing events “future” to this book.

As of the end of this book Sammie and Tristan haven’t had their mating ceremony but are together. Balladyn has Rhi. Ulrik has let on that his powers are returned (or at least planted that seed by mentally contacting Tristan) The dark are more persistent in finding the “weapon” and the bigger plot is starting to unfold.

As always- I am always up to discussing this universe.

I will be doing Dark Alpha’s Redemption next followed by Burning Desire.
